WELCOME
2010 will see The Scottish Fashion Awards celebrate our 5th Anniversary. To mark this occasion we will be hosting the event in an exciting new venue - the internationally renowned Glasgow Science Centre. From celebrating our incredible Scottish traditions and history in the majestic Stirling Castle for the last four years, we will turn to a feat of modern architecture. We will salute a 21st Century Scotland by hosting the most glamorous night of the year in this magnificent location.
A venue whose mission statement is to 'a brighter future for Scotland through science experiences that engage, challenge and inspire', we feel has great synergy with our ambitions in the fashion world. We will be assuming control of the entire complex. The gleaming titanium crescent overlooking the Clyde shall host our VIP reception, the IMAX cinema will host our awards ceremony with its crystal clear images and wraparound digital surround sound. With a screen bigger than a 5-a-side football pitch and a digital 12,000 watt sound system our 2010 show will be impressive. Our VIP guests, presenters and models will get to explore the workings of the unique piece of machinery that is the Glasgow Tower . The 2.5 minute ride will take them 100m skyward to the cabin for a VIP experience like no other, enjoying unrivalled views over the city. The Planetarium will be the venue for the VIP gala dinner for 380 guests followed by an exclusive after show party. Yes, 2010, the 5th Anniversary will be a year to remember.
Despite the recession's impact on fashion and retail the event has attracted an impressive list of new and existing sponsors for 2010 including The Herald, Swarovski, Mercedes Benz (West of Scotland), BAA Glasgow, Bobbi Brown, Toni & Guy Haircare, Hotel Du Vin, Marks & Spencer, Principal Security, Forth Wines, Highland Spring and The Model Team to name but a few.
The event is delighted to welcome back Vogue.com as headline sponsor of the event. Dolly Jones, Editor of Vogue.com said: "It has been a pleasure to be involved with a well organized and suitable glamorous celebration of some of the designers, models and industry figures whose careers we have watched and supported since the beginning. It's a nice opportunity for us to associate ourselves with their big night and acknowledge their hard work and success. This year looks like the most exciting yet - the 5th Anniversary and the incredible new venue make it an iconic celebration that we are pleased to be part of".
Tessa Hartmann founder and producer of the event said: "I can hardly believe it's been 5 years since our inaugural launch in 2006. Who would have thought that designers and fashion players would now be using this award as a benchmark of their success and credibility? We are extremely proud of the growth and development of this event and I am eternally grateful to all our gracious and passionate sponsors who are as excited as we are about placing Scotland on the global fashion map! The 'Caledonista' stronghold is getting bigger and better each year! With our new venue and increased capacity we are going to put on an anniversary show that Scotland can be proud of!"
