Swarovski - Crystal in Fashion
Swarovski joined the Scottish Fashion Awards for the very first time last year as 'Official Jeweller', confirming both the events status on the international fashion calendar and Swarovski's continued commitment to nurturing and celebrating fashion talent.
With the Scottish Fashion Awards now officially included on the Swarovski Red Carpet Calendar, the brand will return again this year to add a dash of sparkle to the Awards 5th Anniversary at The Glasgow Science Centre, with Creative Director Nathalie Colin back in her role as an Official Judge.
Swarovski will once again accessorise celebrities and fashionistas in attendance for the evening, with glistening jewels and sophisticated clutches from its new 'Statement' and Autumn Winter Fashion Collections.
Previously seen accessorizing the stars for the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, Swarovski's new Statement Collection offers evening bags that have so far been exclusively reserved for actresses appearing at the film industry's biggest international events. "For this season I wanted bags with a real red carpet feel, combining Swarovski's expertise with classic crystal, sophisticated colours and pure forms," explains Creative Director and SFA Judge, Nathalie Colin.
Inspired by the frozen waters of Nordic landscapes, where the horizon merges into the sky, Swarovski's new Autumn Winter Collection for 2010/11 features minimalist lines which allow the sheer luxury of crystal to shine through. Clean lines, simple colours and materials in perfect symbiosis, and at the forefront - crystal. The true spirit of haute couture can be seen in each iconic, timeless piece, thanks to the expertise of the Daniel Swarovski line.
These collections are a reinterpretation of luxury, with a modernity and poetry that could only be Swarovski. The red carpet era of ostentation and opulence has given way to elegance and discretion, with a sophisticated style where perfection lies in subtleties and small details.
Swarovski's Statement Collection accessories will be the 'must-haves' on the Scottish Fashion Awards red tartan carpet this year and will be sold exclusively in selected Swarovski Stores from September.

History
In 1895, Daniel Swarovski I, a Bohemian inventor and visionary, moved to the village of Wattens, Tyrol in Austria, with his newly-invented machine for cutting and polishing crystal jewellery stones. From this beginning that revolutionised the fashion world, Swarovski has grown to be the world's leading producer of precision-cut crystal, for fashion, jewellery and more recently lighting, architecture and interiors. Today, the company, still based in Wattens, family-owned and run by 4th and 5th generation family members, has a global reach, with some 26.000 employees, a presence in over 120 countries and a turnover in 2008 of 2.52 billion Euros. Swarovski comprises two major businesses, one producing and selling loose elements to the industry and the other creating design-driven finished products. Swarovski crystal components, known by their product brand names CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements for fashion and STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal for architecture and light, have become an essential ingredient of international design. Since 1965 the company has also catered to the fine jewellery industry with precision-cut genuine and created gemstones, and from April 2008 has strengthened this relationship by revitalising and renaming the product brand ENLIGHTENEDTM - Swarovski Elements. Showing the creativity that lies at the heart of the company, Swarovski's own-brand lines of accessories, jewellery and home décor are sold through more than 1,600 retail outlets in all major fashion capitals. The exclusive Daniel Swarovski accessories collection has meanwhile become the company's couture signature. The Swarovski Crystal Society has close to 350,000 members worldwide, keen collectors of the celebrated crystal figurines. And in Wattens, Swarovski Kristallwelten, the multi-media crystal museum, was opened in 1995, as a celebration of Swarovski's universe of innovation and inspiration. The Swarovski corporation also includes Tyrolit®, manufacturing grinding tools, Swareflex, for road safety reflectors and Swarovski Optik, producing precision optical instruments.

"We'll be looking for a designer who can take their flair and creativity and turn it into a commercially viable product - a garment that captures the forward-thinking nature of the Scottish Fashion Awards, while appealing to M&S' broad range of customers.
"The winner will be invited to take up a work placement with our design team in London , giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see how a brand such as Marks & Spencer puts its collections together. We can't wait to see what Scotland 's graduates have to offer."
BAA Glasgow
We are absolutely delighted that Glasgow Airport has been chosen as the official airport for the prestigious Scottish Fashion Awards.
The Scottish Fashion Awards is a very special event, which has grown significantly over the years.
The awards have played a key part in placing Scotland firmly on the international fashion stage, and the fact they are taking place in Glasgow this year is fantastic for the city.
In terms of fashion, it has never been a better time to visit Glasgow Airport.
Last year we opened our new-look departure lounge, which provided passengers with more space to relax and an exciting array of fashion retailers.
That process is ongoing and we are planning further terminal refurbishment in 2010 to further improve the passenger experience.
We also hope to be making some very exciting announcements regarding new retailers in the near future.
We wish the Scottish Fashion Awards continued success and look forward to working with Tessa and her team to ensure visitors to this year's event enjoy a very warm welcome at Glasgow Airport, and a great night at the Science Centre!
